# Delay

Delay is the action used to pause the script for a period of time before performing the next action. In the GPM Automate configuration, the time is measured in milliseconds (ms), where 1s = 1000 ms.

This action supports a random delay mechanism to accurately simulate actions like a real user, minimizing the frequency of being detected by the system/platform as automated behavior (Anti-bot).

#### Configuration parameters:

* Min (ms): Minimum wait time.
* Max (ms): Maximum wait time.

#### Real-world example:

If you configure Min as `2000` and Max as `4000`. When the script reaches this action, the system will automatically calculate and pause the flow for a random period between 2000ms and 4000ms (for example: this time it pauses for `2843 ms`, the next time it might pause for `3120 ms`).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.gpmautomate.com/automate-en/action-guides/workflow/delay.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
